You can expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 within a few weeks. According to other leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a stronger design that can resist water and dust.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Release date
Does Samsung claim it will hold a Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11. ? We know that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be on the August 11 agenda. It’s also obvious that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will also be there.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Price
SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 may launch at a 20% discount over the Galaxy Z Fold 2, or as low as $1,599. But this is the only report. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was launched at a staggering $1,999. This makes it Samsung’s most expensive smartphone, even after a permanent price drop to $1,799.
A separate blog post from South Korea claims that the Z Fold 3 will cost between 1.9 million and 1.99 million won, which works out somewhere between $1,660 and $1,750. Another leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will cost EUR1,676 for 256GB and EUR1,781 respectively for 512GB models. However, these figures roughly convert to $1,974 or $2,098, which is very close to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Maybe Samsung could make a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold FE. At least, that’s what Max Weinbach suggested, tweeting the names and variants of the Samsung Galaxy S21 models, which are sequels to the Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip… and a Galaxy Z Fold FE. According to a report, we will see two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 — one with more features and less expensive.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Design
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 should see significant design improvements, with The Elec claiming that it will be the first Samsung phone with an under-display cam. This follows a tip by Ice Universe.
Another leak, which allegedly shows stills of a Samsung promo video about the Galaxy Z Fold 3, seems to confirm an under-display camera. However, the rear camera will have a triple-lens array.
The under-display camera is transparent and hides behind the screen when it’s not needed. You can find the instructions here.
Rumors seem to be rife about the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s dual displays.
However, a separate rumor suggests that the phone will have a 5.4-inch exterior display and a 7.7-inch interior display.
Sammobile claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s interior and cover displays would measure 6.23 inches and 7.55 inches, adding to the confusion.
Which specs are correct? That’s impossible without Samsung providing some insight.
No matter what design changes Samsung makes to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the new version will be lighter than the predecessor.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 renders created by designer Ben Geskin based on the latest leaks show what a Galaxy Z Fold 3 with an under-display camera might look like. The recent Samsung patent that describes a foldable phone with no physical buttons has led to speculation that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 might be that phone.
SamMobile claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be available in black and green colors. However, there could be other options. Recent updates include 91mobiles showing what it claims are renders taken from industry sources. 91mobiles also claims a hole-punch selfie cam on the outside of the phone and that the fingerprint sensor will be in the volume rocker.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 durability
Another leak claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have IP water and dirt resistance rating. This should allow it to withstand accidental dunking as well as dusty outdoor walks.
Another source claims that the Galaxy Z Fold may get an IPX8 rating. Evan Blass confirmed this rating.
Samsung added a layer of Ultra-Thin Glass to its Galaxy Z Fold 2, strengthening its design.
The Elec also claims that the thicker glass will allow S-Pen support without damaging flexible glass screens. A patent from Samsung indicates that the company is currently testing an “Armor frame,” a casing that can be used on foldable such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Specs
While we’ll need to wait for the rumor machine to give us more information on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 specs and features, we can make some fairly accurate guesses based on the contents of this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 version.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 runs on the Snapdragon 865 Plus. We can assume that the new version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will use Qualcomm’s top mobile processing platform in the second half.
Ice Universe, a leaker, tweeted about a surprise that the Z Fold 3 might not use the Snapdragon 888 or Samsung Exynos 2100 chipsets. Instead, it would use another system-on-chip.
Samsung Galaxy Z fold three batteries and charging
The Galaxy Z Fold 2’s 4,500 mAh battery is an excellent choice. It’s particularly impressive considering that it has two screens and 5G connectivity. We got that time by using the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with its display set at a 60Hz refresh rate.
It seems that the Z Fold 3 will now have a smaller 4,380mAh battery. However, this will still split into two cells. It appears that the Z Fold 3 will have the same wired charging speed as the Z Fold 2, with 25W. This is according to the Chinese regulator 3C. However, FCC certification documents indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will support wireless charging at 9W. This is a decrease from the 11W support in the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Cameras
One Galaxy Z Fold 3 rumor refers to a possible Samsung camera partnership with Olympus. Yogesh tweeted that the two companies could collaborate on the cameras for future Samsung smartphones.
Yogesh suggested that a special-edition version of the Z Fold 3 could be the first place we’d see the fruits of this partnership, though it’s also possible that it will debut on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, if indeed the partnership is real.
According to a recent leak, the phone will have a triple-lens rear camera setup. This includes a 3x Telephoto, Wide-angle, and Ultrawide Angle lens.
Two selfie cameras are also reported to exist, one on the exterior display with a hole-punch camera and one on the interior display with a 16MP under-display camera. A leaked image from GSM Arena shows that an ultrawide camera will feature phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and one of three 12MP cameras.
Evan Blass later confirmed rumors about the triple 12MP rear camera and the 10MP selfie cam on the cover display. He also added new information about a 4MP selfie camera on the interior display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Software
The Galaxy Z Fold will ship before Android 12 and will be available in the market as soon as possible.A leak that shows off a new interface to Samsung’s foldable phones could bring more software news. It adjusts the content based on how the phone is oriented and whether the screen is fully opened.
Split UI adapts to the screen’s status, and users can customize what they see. A leak suggests that Split UI may debut in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 first, then other Samsung foldable. Samsung indicated that it is in discussions with other Android app developers to ensure their software uses foldable features.
