After a thorough investigation, one of the officers turned to Julian and Jennifer, his expression a mixture of concern and admiration.
“I must commend you both,” the officer said, his voice laced with genuine praise. “Your cat’s instinct and your quick thinking in alerting us to this potential threat have proven invaluable. Without Whiskers’ vigilance and your attentiveness, it’s possible that you may have never noticed what was truly happening.”
But what was really happening? They had only fragments of the puzzle, pieces that needed to be put together. It felt like they were close to finding the answer, but it remained just out of reach.
