No Doubt RTX 4070 was one of the best graphics cards and it was an unparalleled go-to option for many! But with the launch of RTX 4070 Super, the choice isn’t that easy! But worry not! that’s why we are here to simplify things for you. We will be comparing both of these graphics cards from a wide range of aspects including pricing, performance, and specifications. We also have included graphs and tables to get a stark picture of these two.

Let’s start by discussing the RTX 4070. The card was introduced at the beginning of last year with a stated price of $600, and retailers continue to sell it for that amount. In reaction to AMD’s RX 7800 XT, Nvidia lowered the price to $550 later in the year. Models are still available for $550, and occasionally much less.

It’s those sales that currently make the RTX 4070 seem so tempting. For instance, this MSI Ventus model costs $530 as of this writing, but over the holiday shopping season, I was able to find units for as little as $515.

At its CES speech on January 8, Nvidia made the RTX 4070 Super formal announcement, putting an end to months of speculation regarding the RTX 40-series upgrade. The RTX 4070 Super was formally released on January 17 and will continue to retail for the same $600 list price as the RTX 4070. About six variants have been seen to be offered at that price as well.

Some savings are assured because Nvidia is formally lowering the price of the RTX 4070 to $550 in response to the news of the new GPUs.

Despite having the same name, the RTX 4070 Super has significantly more specifications than the RTX 4070. Starting with the similarities, the RTX 4070 Super offers the same bus width and 12GB of GDDR6X memory as the base model.

Let’s take a glance at these specs in below mentioned table,

The major difference is the number of CUDA cores. There are 5,888 CUDA cores in the RTX 4070 and 7,168 CUDA cores in the RTX 4070 Super. That’s an almost 22% boost over the standard RTX 4070 and nearly as many as the RTX 4070 Ti. With a little modification, the power usage is now 220 watts, a slight increase over the previous card.

The 21Gbps bandwidth and boost clock of the card remain at 2,475MHz, respectively. Even though there haven’t been many modifications, what has changed is sufficient to elevate the RTX 4070 to a completely new class of graphics cards. Given the revised specifications, the non-super RTX 4070 Ti may soon be replaced by the RTX 4070 Super.

RTX 4070 Super is around 10% to 18% faster than RTX 4070! Let’s take a greater look into it,

The RTX xx70 Super outperforms the RTX 4070 in terms of speed at 1440p, despite both GPUs having the same resolution goal. As you can see above, the RTX xx70 Super is approximately 11% quicker throughout our test. Remember that these figures do not include Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5, which is supported by both cards.(Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5)
